South Africa

South African wine has only begun to attract international attention since the ending of Apartheid. Although progress has been rapid in the last few years, many of the wines still show the effects of years, of isolation from much of of the wine world. A number of the wines, particularly the reds could do with more fruitiness, and it improves as the years go by.

  • South Africa has a long winemaking history, with wine lands located in the Western Cape, a mountainous region where the Atlantic Ocean meets the Indian Ocean and the climate is Mediterranean.

    V, Rudi Schultz Syrah, and Mulderbosch Chenin Blanc.
